Cartoon Network, Boomerang And Cartoonito To Be Removed From TVPlayer On 22nd March

According to UK television news website – a516digital, the online streaming television service – TVPlayer will be removing Turner’s children’s channels – Cartoon Network, Boomerang and Cartoonito from its paid packages on Friday 22nd March. Cartoon Network, Boomerang and Cartoonito will still be available on TVPlayer’s streaming OTT rival – NOW TV, which also offers TV shows on-demand. The reason for the channel removal is increasing channel licensing costs, also on the streaming platform ITV2, ITV3, ITV4, ITVBe and CITV are no longer carried on the basic free TVPlayer service and have moved to TVPlayer’s premium packages (these channels are available for free on Freeview’s iOS app). TVPlayer has also dropped Turner’s news channel – CNN International along with shopping channel QVC this month.

As Turner’s kids channels have been removed from the platform, TVPlayer’s Kids Pack will no longer available to new subscribers, existing subscribers will continue to be able to subscribe to the channel pack, but with the three channels removed. For new TVPlayer subscribers – Nickelodeon, Nick Jr, Nick Jr Too and Baby TV will only be available in the top tier Premium+ service.
