The Heroic Quest Of The Valiant Prince Ivandoe follows Ivandoe, a young prince of the forest who has been sent on an epic quest by his father – The Mighty Stag to retrieve the magical Golden Feather from the Eagle King. The show has been produced in partnership with Copenhagen, Denmark-based animation studio – Sun Creature Studio (the pilot episode was produced by Copenhagen Bombay), with co-funding from the Danish Public Service Fund. Along with the linear rollout on television, Cartoon Network will launch the new series as an online interactive story, where kids and animation fans can follow the story with Ivandoe and unlock new episodes throughout the story. This is the first time Cartoon Network EMEA has launched a show with an interactive experience. Ten episodes have been produced with a runtime of three minutes each, the show is expected to rollout across Cartoon Network feeds in the EMEA area from late 2017.
From The Turner UK Press Release: Cartoon Network EMEA Announces New Original Series The Heroic Quest Of The Valiant Prince Ivandoe
Turner’s Cartoon Network EMEA has today announced a brand-new comedy series, The Heroic Quest of the Valiant Prince Ivandoe, which will be launching across the region from late 2017. The details were revealed by Patricia Hidalgo, Chief Content Officer, Turner EMEA Kids & International Kids Strategy, during the opening keynote at Cartoon Business in Belfast.
Created by Danish animators Christian Bøving-Andersen and Eva Lee Wallberg – who previously worked on Cartoon Network’s EMEA-produced hit series The Amazing World of Gumball – the series of 10 x 3 minute episodes follows young prince of the forest, Ivandoe who is tasked by his father, The Mighty Stag, to go on a quest and return with the magical Golden Feather of the fearsome Eagle King. Accompanied by his dedicated squire, a small bird called Bert, Ivandoe embarks on an epically silly adventure, discovering new and mysterious areas of the forest and an array of peculiar creatures along the way.
The Heroic Quest of the Valiant Prince Ivandoe has been produced in partnership with Copenhagen-based Sun Creature Studio (the pilot episode was created with Copenhagen Bombay), with co-funding from the Danish Public Service Fund. Cartoon Network will be launching it as an online interactive digital play, alongside the linear roll-out, encouraging kids and animation fans to “quest” with Ivandoe and Bert in order to travel across the landscape and unlock new episodes. This marks the first time Cartoon Network EMEA has developed and launched new property in this way.
Patricia Hidalgo commented: “Ivandoe is a really exciting project, with an extremely talented creative team at its helm and welcome support from the Danish Public Service Fund. The story and style presents us with a great opportunity to introduce this new IP in a non-traditional way, with a host of interactive digital elements that will allow kids to get to know the hilarious and loveable characters by questing along with them. We can’t wait to see the response from Cartoon Network fans.”
Christian Bøving-Andersen and Eva Lee Wallberg added: “It’s been so much fun to work with Cartoon Network and the dedicated team at Sun Creature Studio developing what started as a small idea in East London into 10 actual episodes produced here in Copenhagen. We are very happy and proud of the result and we really hope that the kids out there will love questing with Ivandoe just as much as we do.”
